Equidev Wraps Up Climate Project with Bold Push for Private Sector Engagement and Public Awareness

Equidev successfully concluded its UNDP- and GCF-funded project “Raising Awareness About Climate Change Adaptation in Tajikistan” in April 2025 with two standout achievements that brought together decision-makers and empowered the public. The final round of eight private sector roundtables took place across Khatlon, Rasht Valley, and GBAO, engaging 198 participants from businesses, local authorities, and civil society. The discussions focused on how climate change is already affecting Tajikistan’s six national priority sectors: water resources, energy, agriculture, forestry and biodiversity, transport and infrastructure, and industry and construction. Participants explored concrete ways for the private sector to take the lead in building local resilience.

As the project’s capstone, Equidev developed and launched the Climate Change Glossary-Guide for Tajikistan, a first-of-its-kind educational tool developed in English and Tajik. Designed for government officials, educators, and communities, the glossary breaks down complex climate terms and connects them to real-life examples from across the country. This user-friendly guide now serves as a vital national resource for advancing climate literacy and supporting informed local action.
