On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, the Raising Awareness About Climate Change Adaptation in Tajikistan (RACCA) subproject, implemented by Equidev under the UNDP’s “Enabling Effective Implementation of the National Adaptation Plan” initiative and funded by the Green Climate Fund, organized a successful exhibition in collaboration with the local government authority of Kushoniyon District, Khatlon Province.

The exhibition focused on climate change awareness and adaptation, coinciding with the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation by the UN General Assembly, an initiative led by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

This event forms a vital component of RACCA’s efforts to raise public awareness and empower local communities to address climate challenges. Featuring the creative talents of 32 young artists from Kushoniyon, the exhibition showcased diverse artworks addressing critical themes such as glacier preservation, sustainable farming, and innovative approaches to strengthening community resilience through adaptation. The event also drew more than 70 spectators, including community members, educators, and local officials, fostering meaningful dialogue on climate action.

A distinguished jury, comprising representatives from UNDP (virtually), Equidev, the Kushoniyon Local Government Authority, and the Agency for Hydrometeorology, evaluated the submissions. Monetary prizes were awarded to the top three winners, and all participants received memorable gifts as a token of appreciation for their contributions.

The exhibition not only celebrated youth creativity but also served as a platform to inspire community-driven adaptation solutions. Equidev and its partners look forward to replicating such initiatives across Tajikistan, further contributing to the Green Climate Fund’s mission of building climate resilience through community engagement.
