On November 21, 2023, the International Public Organization “Equitable Development” (Equidev) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tajik Agrarian University (TAU) to boost cooperation in the implementation of ongoing projects and programs, taking into account the scope of opportunities and resources. The MoU was signed by Gulchehra Boboeva, Equidev’s CEO and Mahmadyorzoda Usmon Mamur, TAU’s rector.

Under the MoU, both parties have agreed to work together on promotion of decentralized wastewater treatment system (DEWATS), knowledge exchange programs and capacity building activities.

Equidev is eager to leverage its available resources to increase the capacity of TAU’s wastewater testing laboratories, while TAU is committed to perform wastewater testing on a timely basis. Wastewater samples shall be taken from five DEWATSs built by Equidev in the four cities and districts of the country (Rudaki, Hisor, Vahdat and Ayni).

Following the signing ceremony, the parties also exchanged opinions on possible integration of a course on decentralized sanitation solutions into the TAU’s teaching curriculum, and mutual cooperation in agriculture sector.

The MoU was signed within the framework of the “Building Knowledge and Awareness on Sustainable Sanitation Solutions” project financed by the Government of Switzerland. The project aims to improve the health conditions of the Tajikistan population through access to sustainable sanitation services and improved hygiene behaviors.
